My Photo
Location: The Oregon Cascades, near PDX, United States

Our home in the Oregon Cascades, provides us with peaceful days, and star-filled nights. We are grateful for fresh air, clean water, and enough space for our garden.

These pictures were taken at the southern tip of the peninsula, in Placencia Village, about 8 miles from Calico Jack's.

The road that runs for 26 miles from the Southern Highway to Placencia Village, along the spine of the peninsula, is not paved. It was built in 1986 and it hasn't been worked on since. It is rough and dusty on a good day, and slick red clay on a wet day. Eight miles is a lot farteher than it sounds. Most people fly into Placencia, from other parts of Belize, rather than torture themselves on the bus!

First things first...When we arrived we went directly to the building that you see in the first photo. This is the only place to buy ice on the whole peninsula!

The second picture shows the huge pile of cocktail-shaped ice that's been manufactured today! It's pretty cool. You can take in whatever container you have...or a plastic bag. They shovel in some ice, and tell you how much!

The last two pictures show the dive shop, and the yachts moored off shore.
