Location: The Oregon Cascades, near PDX, United States

Our home in the Oregon Cascades, provides us with peaceful days, and star-filled nights. We are grateful for fresh air, clean water, and enough space for our garden.

Placencia is one of the most laid-back places in Belize. Main Street is actually a narrow concrete sidewalk, first build 30 years ago, as a means of wheel-barrowing fish around without fighting the sand. The sidewalk still serves as the main arteryof life in town.

Until 1986 you could only reach Placencia by boat or by air. Most tourists still prefer to fly.

Placencia was used as a fishing camp by the ancient Mayas, and re-started in that role in the mid-1800's. Today most of the fishermen have given up their nets for binoculars and dive gear, cashing in on their local knowledge to guide tourists. Of course you can still get fantastic seafood here, as well!
