Look! Trees! We were nearly home, when we made our final rest stop at a small park called Rowena, where Kraig's family used to picnic! It was early on a Sunday, and no one was there, yet! Lovely.

There is a road on top of the rock in the second picture...the third one was taken from way up there, looking east!

We'll close this for now, as we began it, with a picture of Buddha...Happy Dog...home at last!

Thanks for coming along for the ride! Don't forget to click to enlarge, if you have time! Those wide open spaces are even bigger than they look on our blog!

The Mighty Columbia River! If you have followed our progress on the photo blog this far, you are probably as glad as we were to finally see the Columbia River...The last picture shows the Native American fishermen, on the first week-end of the salmon season! Before the Bonneville Dam was constructed, they fished with nets, from the banks, and it is said that you could walk across the river on the backs of the fishes!

Three Happy Travelers! We loved the hotel in Pendleton...the Red Lion. It has our highest 5 star ~*****~ rating! The view was awesome, the room was clean, the shampoo and soap were new-age-and-natural. The food (seafood!) in the restaurant was superb, and the service was excellent and friendly! No one was staring at us...that was a plus. Of course, they accept pets, and the price was resonable. We're going back!

Oregon, At Last! We were so happy to cross the border into Oregon! There is the water, of course...not to mention TREES...though eastern Oregon is the high plains, and very dry. These wheat fields are near Pendleton, where we stopped for the night. It was tempting to roll on home (only four more hours) but we decided to stay the night here, rather than drive tired, at night, and arrive very late!
